Gentianella is a plant genus in the gentian family (Gentianaceae). Plants of this genus are known commonly as dwarf gentians. There are about 256 species in this genus. They are herbs that occur in alpine and arctic habitat types. They are distributed in the Americas, Eurasia, northern Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
Avoid overhead watering. Let the soil dry completely, then thoroughly wet it. Let it dry completely before you water again.
Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid and neutral soils.
Although all the parts of the veratrum plant are toxic, intoxication most often is caused by bulbs or flowers.
