How to Care for the Plant
Water
Azalea bonsai require frequent watering. check soil with finger to determine if water is needed. water only if soil feels dry to the touch. to water, place in a pan of water and soak for an hour or two until the soil feels moist.
Pruning
Dead fronds and leaves can be removed.
Fertilizer
An organic, balanced, liquid fertilizer once a month during growth period is recommended.
Sunlight
If your plant is not getting enough light, the most common sign is the yellowing and dropping of leaves, stunted leaf growth, elongated stems, and a dull-green color. If your plant is getting too much light, then its leaves will have singed tips, burned patches, or will be falling off (yikes!).
Soil
Prefer fertile soil, preferably loose and loamy with adequate drainage.
Temperature
Keep these plants in as cool position as possible, preferably 7-16°C (45-61°F). If the Rhododendron are brought into warm rooms – above 20°C (68°F) – the roots will dry quickly, flower will flop and leaves will fall. Move the plants gradually from cool into warmer positions if absolutely necessary, but flower will last longer if they are kept cool.
Container
Plants that don't like a lot of moisture will need a drainage hole for moisture to escape and for airflow to circulate through the pot. Another important function of drainage holes is to allow water to flush the soil of excess salts from fertilizers.
