Scorpiurus vermiculatus is a annual growing to 0.5 m (1ft 8in). It is frost tender. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers dry or moist soil.

Scorpiurus, the scorpion's-tails, is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, Fabaceae. It belongs to the subfamily Faboideae. It contains only two species. Scorpiurus muricatus, which is used in gardening and in salads as a garnish, and Scorpiurus vermiculatus. Both are native to the Mediterranean region and the Near East.
