Serapias vomeracea is an herbaceous perennial plant with two ovoidal underground tubers. This species is highly variable in color and shape. It reaches a height of 20–40 centimetres (7.9–15.7 in), with a maximum of 60 centimetres (24 in). Their color is purple-red or pinkish, with veins of darker color.
Serapias vomeracea prefers full sunlight to partial shade. Temperature: It is an intermediate/intermediate-cold species. The daytime temperatures in summer are 18-30°C (64-86°F) and 15-18°C (59-64°F) at night.
Serapias vomeracea is a robust plant growing up to 60cm tall. The leaves form around the base of the stem and are erect, narrow and pointed. There are further bract-like leaves along the stem.
