Asplenium Crissie is an amazingly easy to grow form of the popular Bird's Nest Fern. Crissie produces al arge open bowl shape of unique bright green, arching fronds that have wavy margins. As the plant matures the ends of the fronds become branched or crested forming a very distinct 'elk horn' look. Asplenium Crissie is an excellent statement plant great for pots around the office and at home indoors, under an alfresco area or in a shady area of the garden. Asplenium Crissie requires moist well drained soil and will benefit from a monthly application of liquid fertiliser to maintain health and vigour. Asplenium Crissie can grow to a height and width of 60cm.
Tips for watering your ferns avoid watering from above, which can cause the moisture to splash onto the leaves of your ferns. instead, aim the water you give your ferns at the soil above their roots. it will trickle down into the root zone, where your ferns can absorb it and put it to use.
The ideal blend of soil for plant growth is called loam. Often referred to as topsoil or black dirt by landscape companies, loam is a mixture of sand, clay, and silt.
It is important to never remove more than a third of the foliage in any one year and to cut just above a node on the stem.
All ferns love moisture and should be given humid conditions. In living rooms and family rooms, stand their pots on trays of damp pebbles or clay granules. Ferns also love being misted at regular intervals with tepid, soft water unless the humidity of the whole room is kept high through the use of a humidifier.
