How to Care for the Plant
Water
In summer, let the top layer of the soil dry out between waterings. In winter, water occasionally. Keep in mind that this plant tolerates dryness better than overwatering.
Pruning
This plant doesn't need pruning unless you want to cut the vines that trailed too far. You can also prune dead vines and leaves when necessary.
Fertilizer
Fertilize in spring with a half-diluted all-purpose fertilizer every second week.
Sunlight
This plant likes bright and direct light throughout the day. Choose the brightest room in the house for the Rosary Vine. South-facing windows are great.
Soil
Use a succulent potting mix to provide better drainage. Alternatively, mix 1 part of all-purpose soil with 1 part perlite or sand.
Propagation
Rosary Vine is easy to propagate. It grows small round balls along the stems and roots called tubers or aerial roots. When they come in contact with soil, they root and start forming new plants. To propagate from tubers, make a cut just above the tuber or gently remove it from the stem. Then, place it in slightly damp soil and lightly press to submerge it in half. Roots will grow in about a month. You can also propagate Rosary Vine from stem cuttings if you wish.
Temperature
The plant feels perfectly fine at room temperature. 65-80°F (18-27°C) is an ideal range. Don't let the temperature drop to 55°F (13°C). Avoid cold drafts.
Container
Any pot with drainage holes will fit, but Rosary Vine looks especially stunning in hanging baskets.
Fun fact
The plant is often called String of Hearts because of the leaf shape.
