Parlor Palm Care

Parlor palm needs regular watering with warm and settled water. Irrigate your plant generously when the topsoil dries out, but do not let it dry completely. Typically, a mature Neanthe palm needs a sip 1-3 times a week.

Parlor palm does not need special pruning. You can actually damage the plant by trimming it.

You need to feed Chamaedorea every 2 weeks from the beginning of spring to the middle of autumn. You can use liquid palm fertilizer. You can also apply liquid fertilizers for decorative leafy plants with nitrogen.

Chamaedorea elegans is unpretentious in matters of lighting. The plant suits both diffused bright light and partial shade. You only need to protect the palm tree from the scorching sun on hot days.

Your palm will thrive in soddy and deciduous soil. We recommend using a mix of sand and peat in a ratio of 3:1:1:1. A ready-made mixture for palm trees for planting will also do fine. Your green pet will not enjoy moisture stagnation, so add some clay to the bottom for good drainage.

Chamaedorea elegans propagates by dividing the bush, seeds, and root offspring. Please note that you can separate the offspring only when they form strong roots. To propagate this plant from root sprouts, you need to separate and plant them in an individual container.

Although Chamaedorea elegans is a tropical plant, it needs moderate temperatures. In the warm season, the best range would be 68-80°F (20-27°C). In winter, you need to move your palm to a cool place with a temperature of 54-60°F (12-16°C). Keep your green pet safe from cold drafts and heaters.

Parlor palm needs repotting quite often. While it is young and growing fast, you must repot it yearly. Always choose a container that is slightly larger than the previous one. Don't forget to ensure the pot has drainage holes!
