Aechmea fendleri can be identified by its vivid red and blue inflorescence with blue tubular flowers, which develop from each bud and, after pollination, develops into colorful fruits. The flower belongs to the family Bromeliaceae, native to Venezuela, Trinidad, and Tobago. An epiphytic plant that naturally habitat cloud forests and grows up to 2 feet (60 cm) and has fairly stiff leaves.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Keep the water in the center of the cup and change that water frequently to protect the plant from the attack of bacteria.
Pruning
Pruning is unnecessary, but harmful or unhealthy leaves can be cut to keep the appearance appealing.

Propagation
Cut the flower bract off at the base once. The mother plant will develop new plantlets, and those plantlets can be taken at the soil level as the mother plant eventually withers away. These new plantlets can either be let to grow into a clump of plants or potted up separately in little pots. Make sure newly potted bromeliads are securely secured because their root systems are initially weak, and plants have the propensity to topple over.
Temperature
Fendler Bromeliad is a cold-tolerating plant because its native habitat is high-latitude cloud forests. Basically, the flower is okay with any temperature above 32°F (0°C) because it cannot tolerate frost. Up to 68°F (20°C) is the ideal temperature range.
Container
These are uncomplicated plants to grow in pots. One of the most important rules is to keep the central part filled with water. Pots should have perfect drainage, and water should run thoroughly through the potting medium.
