Corn Plant Care
Dracaena fragrans
Other names: Janet Craig Plant, Dracaena Compacta

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water it generously: the soil should remain slightly moist all the time. Water daily during summer and reduce it in winter. Be careful with over-watering: droopy, yellow leaves are a sign it may indicate root rot.
Pruning
Remove yellowing leaves when they appear. You can also cut the tops of the corn plant if it becomes too tall for your space.
Fertilizer
Fertilize it during the growing season using balanced liquid fertilizer every other month.
Sunlight
This plant likes bright indoor locations but can not stand direct light. The ideal indoor location for this plant is near a window with filtered sunlight.
Soil
One of the most important factors is good drainage because its roots don't do well in standing water. Use a loose, loamy potting soil mix or just a Dracaena potting mix.
Propagation
Propagate it by cutting the stem or the top off the original parent plant. It's best to propagate corn plants in spring or summer, but if you keep your plants indoors in a climate-controlled room, you can propagate these plants any time of year.
Temperature
The best temperature for this plant is 60-75ËšF (15-24ËšC). Because it is a tropical plant, make sure that the temperature is not lower than 50ËšF (10ËšC).
Container
Choose the container based on the height of the plant, root length, and drainage layer. The most convenient container will be the one that expands slightly at the top.

Dracaena has a lot of names: the name "dracaena" means "female dragon" in Latin, and there is a legend under it. Another name to the plant was given by the Chinese; they call it "bamboo of happiness" even though bamboo is not even related to it…
