How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water well and keep the plant evenly moist, but never soggy, for the first few weeks.
Pruning
Prune back the entire plant in spring as new growth begins if you're growing lantana as a perennial. Cut the lantana down to within 6 to 12 inches of the ground to encourage new growth and to remove the old, woody stems.
Fertilizer
Fertilize perennial lantana once a year in spring after pruning. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer, such as a 10-10-10 blend, at the rate advised on the package. Sprinkle the fertilizer on the soil, six inches from the base of the plant, then water thoroughly so the nutrients dissolve into the soil.
Sunlight
Full Sun, Partial Shade
Soil
Lantana grows best in moist, well-drained soil, that's slightly acidic, but they can survive in drier conditions. Drainage is important as they don't live as long with wet roots.5 сент. 2018 г.
Temperature
Lantana plants may survive in a light frost, but if the temperature dips below 28 degrees Fahrenheit or stays cold for a long time, the plant will die. The plant will thrive in temperatures 55 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
Container
Plant lantana in a container with a drainage hole in the bottom using a lightweight commercial potting mix.
