Philodendron 'Narrow' is part of the Araceae family and is cultivar (possibly from Florida). It has large narrow leaves with serrated edges and grows in a self heading formation but will happily climb once established. Use a sphagnum moss pole to encourage climbing and provide support for your plant.
Even though Philodendrons can be drought-tolerant they prefer their soil to stay barely moist to thrive. Prolonged exposure to dry soil will cause brown crisp edging on your houseplant. Rectify this by watering on a more regular basis and checking the soil often to see how dry it is. If watering is not the issue, then dry air can be the cause of leaf tips drying out. This is easily remedied by placing your plant on a pebble tray.
If there are leaves and stems on your plant that are dead or discolored, you'll want to prune your philodendron to remove them. They could stifle the healthy parts of the plant and keep it from growing.
Droopy leaves can mean the plant is getting either too much or not enough water, but they should revive once you correct the issue. Temperatures: The ideal temperature for a philodendron is between 65 – 78°F during the day, and around 60°F at night. Toxicity: Philodendron should not be consumed by animals or humans.
All parts of the plant contain needle-like calcium oxalate crystals, which if chewed or eaten, can cause immediate pain or a burning sensation and swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue and throat. Philodendron Narrow is a fast climbing Philodendron with narrow, heavily serrated, long deep green leaves which grow from the stem. Long aerial roots help support the plant. An ideal choice for a medium to bright light interior plant. Perfect for the home or patio in hanging baskets or grown in a pot.
