Erythrina Herbacea Care

During the first growing season, water once a week to stimulate growth. This shrub does not tolerate standing water and should not be left swampy. Once rooted, it is considered a drought tolerant shrub and may require additional watering only during abnormally long dry periods.

Doesn't require heavy pruning, but appreciates easy annual maintenance and general grooming. Do not prune during the first growing season. In the spring of the second growing season, trim off any dead or cold-damaged shoots and trim them back to shape if necessary.

It blooms most profusely when grown in the open sun. However, it can tolerate spotted sun as it is found naturally in the outskirts of forests and plantings.

Adapts to a wide range of soil types, but prefers sandy and acidic soils. Make sure the soil is well drained as the roots cannot be in the water.

Needs high temperatures and thrives in tropical climates.
