Big bold evergreen shrub that deserves a place in every garden. Tall growing cold hardy shrub with leaves that can be up to 18″ across- all three leaflets. New growth in spring emerges slowly clad in a showy taupe indumentum that clings to the new leaves for quite some time.
Maintaining the correct watering regime is an important factor for the successful cultivation of shefflers. Watering the chef should be moderate, it is desirable that the soil is slightly moist all the time. Overdrying an earthen coma is undesirable, but the plant can tolerate it, in contrast to waterlogging. Sheffler reacts very painfully to the "bay", leaves begin to blacken and fall off.
Pruning reduces the decorative properties of the flower. Often, to create the effect of bushiness, several plants are planted in one pot. The leaves are not cut off, they gradually dry out. Then they are removed with a sharp instrument to prevent the occurrence of parasitic diseases, the instrument is disinfected by fire.
Fertilize regularly during the active growing season (from spring to autumn) every 2 weeks with a universal fertilizer for indoor plants. Fertilizing the chefler after transplanting is possible only after the appearance of young leaves.
Place the plant in the lightest spot in the room, preferably on a windowsill if the windows face east, west, or north. The north side is not very suitable for plants with variegated colors, due to the lack of light, the pattern will not be sufficiently pronounced.
The mixture for transplanting is light, slightly acidic (pH about 6). You can make a mixture of turf and humus soil with sand (2: 1: 1) or 3 parts of fertile humus soil, 1 part of fibrous peat and 1 part of sand.
Shefflers love cool conditions - 17-22 degrees Celsius (62.6-71.6 degrees Fahrenheit). But even in normal indoor conditions, it will grow well, while it is desirable to spray the plant in order to provide a more favorable microclimate.
