Pinwheel Jasmine Care
Tabernaemontana divaricata

Native to Asia and India, the Pinwheel Jasmine, sometimes also referred to as Nero’s Crown, is an evergreen shrub with big, shiny, dark-green leaves. Unlike most shrubs, this plant grows parallel to the ground, creating a horizontal shape instead of the typical vertical growing patterns of shrubs.
It flourishes more intensely in the spring but also sporadically throughout the year, displaying its white, wax-like blossoms with a strong fragrance and shape that resembles a pinwheel, thus its name.
When broken, its branches produce toxic milky latex, so keep away from children and pets and handle it carefully to avoid breakage.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Pinwheel Jasmine should be watered regularly during the first year of planting**,** and the soil should be kept wet but not overly drenched. It is not resistant to long periods of drought.
Pruning
To preserve its shape and symmetry, prune annually. Also, keep in mind that it grows between 5-6ft. (1.5-1.8m).
Fertilizer
Fertilize it at least once a year, with the ideal frequency being biannually and every 10 days during summer.
Sunlight
Indirect light and partial light are perfect for Pinwheel Jasmine, as it can endure even full sun as long as not too harsh. Ideally, it needs about 3 to 5 hours a day of sunlight.
Soil
Make sure to provide deep, well-drained, fertile soil.
Propagation
This plant can be propagated by stem or by seed.
Temperature
Pinwheel Jasmine is used to tropical weather, so it won’t survive extreme cold or frost. In the summer, keep it between 72-77 ºF (22-25 ºC), and in the winter, between 50-61 ºF (10-16 ºC). The flowers will last longer at lower temperatures.
