A low-maintenance shrub that can live up to 7 years if taken care of properly is an ideal long-term companion. You’ll be presented with its white flowers not only in spring but from time to time, randomly throughout the year.
Native to Asia and India, the Pinwheel Jasmine, sometimes also referred to as Nero’s Crown, is an evergreen shrub with big, shiny, dark-green leaves. Unlike most shrubs, this plant grows parallel to the ground, creating a horizontal shape instead of the typical vertical growing patterns of shrubs.
It flourishes more intensely in the spring but also sporadically throughout the year, displaying its white, wax-like blossoms with a strong fragrance and shape that resembles a pinwheel, thus its name.
When broken, its branches produce toxic milky latex, so keep away from children and pets and handle it carefully to avoid breakage.
