Vriesea pardalina is a "dream species": well shaped, deep green, neatly spotted rosettes hold a pendulous bloom which is unusual and beautiful at the same time. This inflorescence is composted by pink rounded bracts and lemon yellow flowers.
Water and feed the plant by filling the center cup in the rosette with filtered or distilled water and avoid tap water because vrieseas are sensitive to mineral salts.
Place the plant in a brightly lit, warm location near an east-, west- or south-facing window covered with sheer curtains.
Dilute a general-purpose liquid fertilizer formulated for houseplants to a half-strength solution and add it to the central cup once or twice a year in spring or summer.
Vrieseas need to have excellent drainage because their roots don’t like to stay constantly wet. For this reason, orchid bark (small, medium or large) or cymbidium mix works just fine.
