How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water Pearls and Jade Pothos only when the topsoil is dry. Remember, it refers to the plants that get less harm by a short drought than by regular stagnation of fluid in the root system. Use only soft water for irrigation, namely filtered, melted, or settled.
Pruning
Epipremnum Aureum does not require special pruning. However, you can do it to give the plant a decorative look.
Fertilizer
Fertilize regularly once every 15 days. You can use complex mineral fertilizers for vines in liquid form. Fertilization is necessary from April to September. In the autumn-winter period, you can continue to feed the plant, but not so often (no more than 1 time in 30 days).
Sunlight
Pearls and Jade Pothos does not tolerate direct sunlight. Its leaves may wither, and the stems may slow down their growth. Therefore, a place on the western or eastern side of the house is suitable for normal growth. There should be bright enough, but at the same time diffused light.
Soil
Epipremnum Aureum grows best in loose humus substrate, which should be neutral. You can purchase a potting mix for decorative leafy plants in a specialized store.
Propagation
Epipremnum Aureum propagates vegetatively: layering, sprout division, or apical cuttings. For cuttings, you can use sprouts with three leaves. Root them in a substrate that consists of sand and peat (in equal amounts). Rooting will occur in 2-3 weeks.
Temperature
Epipremnum Aureum does well at room temperature. In summer, the plant prefers to be warm. A temperature of 67-86 degrees Fahrenheit (20-30 Celsius) would be appropriate. In winter, it should not fall below 50 Fahrenheit (10 Celsius). Remember that drafts are detrimental to the plant.
Container
You can use a hanging basket or pot. When choosing a container for planting, remember that it should not be too spacey. The root system of the plant develops slowly. Therefore, each subsequent pot should be only a couple of centimeters wider than the previous one. The material of the container is not so important.
Fun fact
The plant is able to accumulate water from moist air and release it in the form of droplets at the tips of the foliage.
