The Teddy Bear magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora "Southern Charm") is a dwarf Southern magnolia variety that grows outdoors in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 7 through 9. Most Southern magnolias reach up to 80 feet tall with 40-foot spreads, but the Teddy Bear typically gets no taller than 20 feet high and 12 feet wide, making it an ideal specimen or accent plant for small outdoor spaces. Teddy Bear comes with the magnolia's characteristic shiny, green leaves and showy, sweetly fragrant, white blooms. Unfortunately, it also shares a few of its larger relatives' problems.
