Peperomia scandens Green is also known as the Piper Peperomia is a vining, epiphytic plant that can reach 24-36 inches in height. It is a popular houseplant due to its hardiness and ease of care. It is a sturdy trailer with glossy green, heart-shaped leaves.Tiny, green flowers are borne on spike inflorescences that resemble rat tails.
These plants do not like to be over-watered so be sure to let the plant almost dry out before watering.
This plant prefers indirect sunlight but can tolerate some shade. If in a shaded area the variegated leaf will become more of a cream colour.
While feeding is not required through autumn or winter, a slow-release fertiliser can help encourage new growth through the spring and summer.
Many peperomia species grow as epiphytes in the wild. This is similar to the way many orchids grow: think of a plant nestled in the nook of a tree, sending its roots into some slightly decaying bark. Choose soil that mimics these conditions—chunky, loose, and acidic. An orchid potting medium works well. Regular potting soil is fine too; you can always lighten it with a handful of peat moss or vermiculite.
It is preferable to keep the Peperomia in average indoor temperatures of around 18-24 degrees. It’s best kept away from areas prone to draught.
