A braided hibiscus tree is elegant and attractive in any setting. They can be placed poolside, on a patio or flanking a paved pathway to your front door. The large whorled flowers with the prominent stamens tumble out from a canopy of the smaller, deep-green leaves of the hibiscus bush.Growing hibiscus in a container or in a garden requires some care and maintenance. Although they prefer certain conditions, they are hardier than they appear and can thrive with the proper amount of water, sunlight and amended soil.
Water a plants 3 to 4 times per week with warm water. Hibiscus plants need plenty of water and like their soil to be consistently moist, but never soggy. You can check a soil’s moisture by touching it. If it feels dry and crusty, your plants need to be watered.
Mix the recommended amount of liquid fertilizer and water in a watering can. Then simply pour the mix into the soil as if you're watering the plant.
Here’s a handy guideline: increase pot size by 2.5-5 cm (1 to 2 inches) in diameter for plants that are growing in pots 25.4 cm (10 inches) in diameter or less. For larger plants, those growing in pots greater than 10 inches in diameter, increase the pot size by 5 or 7.62 cm (2 or 3 inches) in diameter.
