How to Care for the Plant

Water

Echeveria easily tolerates drought, so let the soil dry out between waterings. The most water is needed when the plant is in the growth phase.

Pruning

Cut off the top of the succulent with scissors, leaving the base with 2-3 leaves.

Fertilizer

Echeveria does not need a special fertilizer for its growth, but you can add a slow-release fertilizer during the summer for better absorption.

Sunlight

Ideal conditions are for partial shade and sun. Six hours of sun per day is required for the best development.

Soil

The soil should be well drained and loose to promote root growth. For better development, pumice should be added.

Propagation

The best propagation method is leaf cuttings taken in spring or early summer. Preparing wet soil, putting a sheet on the surface, and covering it with a plastic bag are necessary. When the plant sprouts, the bag can be removed.

Temperature

The temperature should be above 4°C (40˚F). The plant can tolerate temperatures as low as -1 to -3°C (25-30˚F).

Container

Any pot will do; the main thing is that it can be easily moved outdoors or indoors.

Fun fact

Echeveria was named after the Mexican artist Atanasio EcheverrÃa y Godoy.
