How to Care for the Plant
Water
Peace lily can suffer some mild shock when it is watered with cold water as a roots in particularly are sensitive to low temperatures. A best practice is to leave a water in its container till it reaches approximately room temperature before watering.
Pruning
Dead or dying sections of the plant can encourage pest infestation or disease. Removing these not only makes your houseplant look better, but reduces the risk of further problems down the line.
Fertilizer
An organic, balanced, liquid fertilizer once a month during the growth period is recommended.
Sunlight
The east window is often considered the best window for houseplants as it's cooler than the west window without the dangers of overheating. West windows received full sun for part of the day and bright light for the rest, great for flowering plants.
Soil
A blend of peat moss, vermiculite, and perlite offers the best mixture.
Temperature
Peace lilies should be grown in temperatures ranging from 68-80°F. Don’t place them in a drafty area as they do not like it. They don’t tolerate extreme cold well, so if your temperatures drop below 45°F, they will most likely die.
Container
When choosing a pot, choose a pot that is 2.5-5 cm (1-2”) larger than the current size. Ceramic pots are porous which means your plants are less likely to experience root rot from overwatering. It also means you'll have to water more often. Plastic pots are lighter, less likely to break, and easier to clean.
