Use of predators really is the best method for plants used for consumption in regard to health issues. On the other end of the scale of possibilities are chemicals that kill everything. I will not recommend any of them. Between these two there are many ways that can help you getting rid of unwanted animals - especially spider mites. One would be using soap.
