what do i do to fix this?

So I have a Calathea peacock that I “rescued” and I am trying to bring back to life… but today I noticed mushrooms growing out from the bottom. This plant has definitely seen better days, but I am trying to get it back to being healthy. I’ve never seen this happen before. What should I do?

From my understanding it means the soil has bacteria in it. Look up the treatment for it but I think black pepper will help but I’m not sure.. I had one growing in my runner plant and I put black pepper and haven’t seen anymore🤷🏾‍♀️
