Water or soil?
I’m trying to propagate my monster of a golden pothos and I always have a hard time getting it to work. I cut below the node at an angle. In water, they never seem to do anything but wilt and die. I keep them in shade/partial sun because I live in a tropical climate and the sun is harsh on the leaves. Soil seems to do better but never produces and also ends up dying. What am I missing?

Are you them outside? Mine always grew best by a shaded window and indirect light inside
Make a mixture of water and a pinch of potting soil and keep it in a shaded place inside
When you do your cutting make sure you have at least 4 leaves and about 4 inches of stem. Put it water and you should get roots in a couple of weeks. If you don’t have enough stem and leaves it will not work.
I’ve had success just rooting cuttings in water. I use rainwater & place them in a window
