first time plant mom. don’t know where to start!
Hi! I believe this is a phillodendron hope salloum. Most likely butched the spelling. I recently saved this plant from a neighbor moving out. No clue where to start - the roots are insane and the leaves are yellow but new leaves are still growing. It drinks a ton of water really fast too.

If the new leaves are green and good growing than the plant should be fine, water when the soil dries out and give as much light you can
if this is a self watering plant pot i would repot immediately some roots look brown use pruners and sanitize them before you cut i would also repot in new soil and make sure the pot is 1-2 inches bigger then the root ball
I agree with the other person to remove the plant and any rotting roots, you need to sanitize the pruners with rubbing alcohol, wipe them dry, then prune. Sanitize ALL roots with hydrogen peroxide. Do not rinse
