Does it need water? How about the light situation?

It looks like it just needs a good drink to me. The leaves on my mom’s always curl like that until she practically drowns it. It sounds weird, but she top waters then bottom waters and then when it stops soaking up anymore water, she just dumps the rest of the water in her garden. Bird of paradise plants love to be water boarded, I swear.
