Place in water and let roots form then plant once roots have formed. Any cup filled with water always keep filled.

Ok so growing tree cuttings isn’t just simply getting a clipping and putting it in the soil. I would recommend you cut a piece about that size 15-30cm, particularly one of the newer shoots. Then i would recommend putting it in a cup of water and adding some root hormone you can get from a garden centre or amazon. This encourages the roots to take and will take about 6-10 weeks ish to root. Once it does then pot it. I would also recommend taking about four cuttings to increase your success rate. Good luck!
