My cat started picking at it, then it slowly died. Any coming back?

Keep it always from your cat lol and give it some cactus food, and water it just slightly more often and you might just be able to save it.

Looks like it’s watered pretty good. Try poking holes in the soil to aerate it a bit
How did ur cat not get spines in his paws lol?? 😂 ouch😂
