Kalanchoe is a genus of about 125 species of tropical, succulent flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae The Kalanchoe humalis is native to Tanzania, Malawi, and Mozambique. This plant can be found growing among rocks and in crevices and sometimes on a rocky island in the rivers falls and rapids. The genus was first described by the botanist Michel Adanson in 1763. The ‘Desert Surprise’ Kalanchoe plant made quite a splash in 2010 when a selected clone called ‘Desert Surprise’ was introduced into the nursery trade.
