What is the plant

Prized by gardeners, Salvia 'Indigo Spires' is a vigorous shrubby perennial with masses of long, twisted spikes of indigo blue flowers held in dusky purple calyces. Blooming continuously from early summer to frost, the waving flowering stems, up to 15 in. (37 cm), are held well above the foliage of dark green, ovate leaves. Well-branched and very free-flowering, this terrific sage is perfect for beds and borders where it adds a long season of color. Almost iridescent in the fall, the flowers dry well and hold their color in flower arrangements.
