Perennial plant 5-25 (50) cm tall. The fruit is 1-nested. Petals shorter than sepals, 1.2–1.5 (2) mm long, white or pale pink, 2-lobed. Stigma headed, at the top with a shallow notch. Flowers with small styloid bracts. Leaves thin, transparent, broadly or oblong-ovate, 1.5–7 cm long, pointed, toothed at the edge, at the base b. m. heart-shaped, on winged petioles 1.5–4.5 cm long. Stems ascending, weak, top with leaves, glabrous, above b. m. branched.
