‘Siam Ribbon’ a compact growing Ixora with small, ruffled leaves that grow tightly to the stems and add to its visual appeal. The vibrant coral-red flowers bloom in profusion during the warm summer months. It’s a slow-growing hybrid that performs well as a container plant since it can remain in the same pot for years.
Water the plant regularly, With a deep soaking about once a week and less during the winter, and keep the soil moist but not dripping wet.
Proper fertilization, pruning, and placement can help Ixora survive in the landscape. A good palm fertilizer such as 8-2-12-4, the fourth number on a fertilizer bag is Mg (magnesium), with chelated micro nutrients and 100 percent slow release N, K and Mg is recommended, applied four times times per year.
A soil composed of peat moss, loam, or sand, or any soil mixture with good drainage can be used. The soil should not be overly fertile.
Ixora ‘Nora Grant’ is a large maturing plant, easily reaching 12 to 15 feet tall. To encourage more blooming, tight pruning should be avoided or at least stopped as the weather warms to let the Ixora "fuzz" out, blooms occur on new wood. Plants get old, large shrubs pruned short have a life span of 7 to 10 years in the landscape. Eventually, the best treatment for old, spotty Ixora is to replace them with more adapted species.
Provide good air circulation, with temperatures between 65 (18 °C) to 75 F (23 °C) and nighttime temperatures between 50 t(10°C) to 60 F (15 °C).
