Aglaonema 'Favonian' is a less common cultivar that features green leaf edging, veins and stem. The leaves are colored heavy with pink. It's really quite striking. If you're looking for a plant to put a splash of color in your house or terrarium but don't want anything high maintenance, Aglaonemas are a great choice.
Water Use: Medium. Be weary of overwatering with this plant as it can be prone to root rot. The key signs of overwatering are yellowing or mushy stalks or leaves. If you find this occurring then it’s best to let the soil dry out completely before watering again, and to follow careful watering patterns going forward.
For best results, feed with slow-release pellets or liquid fertilizer twice a year, at the beginning and end of its growing season.
An ideal soil would be made up of 45% minerals (sand, clay, silt), 5 % organic (plant and animal) material, 25% air and 25% water. The mineral portion would be loam (20 – 30% clay, 30 – 50% silt and 30 – 50% sand).
A container that is about one-third as tall as the plant (measured from the soil line to the highest leaf) often works best.
