How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water nun's orchids regularly until water drips through the bottom of the pot. If the top 2 inches of the media feels dry, water it. Orchids planted in the ground may require less frequent watering.
Fertilizer
Apply a water-soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer diluted to half-strength once a month, or apply a slow-release 20-20-20 fertilizer once every three months. An application of fish emulsion or compost tea every two weeks during the orchid's active period can help encourage growth.
Sunlight
Full sun to part shade.
Soil
An ideal soil would be made up of 45% minerals (sand, clay, silt), 5 % organic (plant and animal) material, 25% air and 25% water. The mineral portion would be loam (20 – 30% clay, 30 – 50% silt and 30 – 50% sand).
Temperature
60 degrees F (15 C) minimum
Container
A container that is about one-third as tall as the plant (measured from the soil line to the highest leaf) often works best.
