How to Care for the Plant
Water
In winter, the irrigation regime will be different from the summer. The amount of watering in winter should be reduced to once a week, it is best to water in the evening. Frequent watering is fraught with acidification of the earth in the pot, and, consequently, with further diseases of the lemon tree. Water slowly, gradually, allowing the water to soak well into the soil. Water for irrigation must be at room temperature, you can even slightly heat it up to about 30-35 degrees.
Pruning
Do not require selective pruning.
Fertilizer
It is important to use preparations containing nitrogen, copper, zinc. This is especially true for young trees that are in the phase of active growth. However, the dosage indicated on the package with the drug must be strictly observed, since an excess of fertilizers can lead to loss of leaves. The young individuals in the first two years after planting do not need additional nutrition. Fertilize trees that have reached 3-4 years or more. From January to April, fertilizers are applied once a week, from April to September - 2-3 times a month. From March to September, fertilizers are applied once every 3 weeks. From early June to mid-July, fertilizer is used, which increases the sugar content of lemon and reduces the acid content. Fertilizers are applied immediately after watering. With artificial lighting in the winter, citrus also needs to be fed.
Sunlight
Full sun to part shade.
Soil
An ideal soil would be made up of 45% minerals (sand, clay, silt), 5 % organic (plant and animal) material, 25% air and 25% water. The mineral portion would be loam (20 – 30% clay, 30 – 50% silt and 30 – 50% sand).
Temperature
Meyer Lemon Trees are very cold hardy and can withstand temperatures down to about 20 degrees. If your area gets colder than that, your tree will need to be brought inside. But when they're inside, winter heat can dry them out.
