The tiny, glossy leaves make this plant ideal for bonsai. It prefers well drained soil and regular watering, but becomes drought resistant with age. The bright green leaves with white edges and compact, prostrate stems make it an excellent ground cover.
Water the plant regularly, especially during hot, dry weather, but be careful not to overwater. Marble queen plants are relatively drought tolerant, but don’t allow the soil to become totally dry.
Apply 2 to 3 inches (5-8 cm.) of compost, bark or other organic mulch around the plant to keep the soil moist and cool.
Prune errant growth to keep the plant neat and shapely. Coprosma are a hardy native shrub not generally affected by frost and so can be trimmed anytime. Pruning is usually done after flowering but as these hybrids are grown for their colourful foliage anytime you want to cut them back to shape will be fine. General rule of thumb is to cut back by about one third.
