Deutzia scabra, commonly called fuzzy deutzia, is an upright, somewhat coarse, deciduous shrub that typically grows 6-10' tall with spreading to arching branches that form a rounded crown. It is native to Japan and China. Mature branching is clad with exfoliating brown bark.
Regular watering during the year of planting is recommended to speed root development up. In summer, in case of heat wave or dry spell, you can water in the morning or in the evening.
An easily grown plant, it tolerates most soils but prefers a moist well-drained fertile humus-rich soil with shade from the early morning sun when grown in areas with late frosts[11, 200]. Prefers a sunny sheltered position, it can be grown on a woodland edge[184].
They all have the same pruning requirement as they flower on wood growths made in the previous growing season (Last year).
