Nothing brightens up a room like a flowering plant. The Aeschynanthus lipstick vine has pointy, waxy leaves and blooms with bright clusters of flowers. Vivid red blossoms emerge from a dark maroon bud reminiscent of a tube of lipstick.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Allow the soil to dry out in between watering.
Pruning
Prune lipstick plant after the plant stops flowering. Blooms develop at the tips of new stems and pruning lipstick vines before flowering delays blooming. However, a good trim after flowering stimulates the plant to produce more blooms.
Fertilizer
Lipstick plant care begins with airy soil and proper fertilization. A 3-2-1 ratio liquid fertilizer gives a good result as long as you keep the soil moist. Be sure that you add a small amount of vitamins to the potting soil as part of the fertilization program.
Sunlight
The Aeschynanthus lipstick vine will not bloom without adequate light. Avoid placing this plant in full shade or full sun. The plant needs bright light for a portion of the day, but not all day long.
Soil
Lipstick plants don't require any special soil, and will usually grow just fine in general potting soil. But if you tend to over water your houseplants, then I would recommend amending your potting soil with perlite or pumice to add extra drainage.
Temperature
The lipstick plant varieties need to have an ideal temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. ... If the temperatures begin to fall under 50 degrees Fahrenheit, then it won't be suitable for the plants. Eventually, the leaves will start to drop.
Container
The only time you will need to repot your Lipstick Plant is if it has outgrown its current pot and the roots are filling the bottom. Use a container that is one size larger than the present one and repotting is best done while your Aeschynanthus is actively growing in spring through summer.
