Award-winning Nepeta racemosa 'Walker's Low' (Catmint) is a popular herbaceous perennial noted for its massive lavender-blue blooms on short spikes, atop aromatic, gray-green foliage in early summer, continuing on and off through early fall if spent flowers are regularly removed.. A remarkably low-maintenance plant, this excellent performer is highly versatile.
Although most prefer full sun, they won't mind a bit of afternoon shade, especially when grown in hot climates.
Cut back after flowering. To keep catmint vigorous, divide it every three to four years in either spring or early fall.
Catnip cold tolerance is pretty high and it grows well in zones 3 to 9. However, an unusually cold winter or colder climates can present a problem for catnip grown outdoors.
Choose a pot at least 200mm wide and deep. Position in full sun to part shade. Fill the chosen pots with quality potting mix, such as Yates Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter. Sow the Catmint (Nepeta mussinii) seeds directly into the pot, water gently and keep moist through germination period.
