Thalictrum aquilegiifolium is a species of flowering plant in the Ranunculaceae family known by the common names Siberian columbine meadow-rue, columbine meadow-rue, French meadow-rue, and greater meadow-rue. Its native range extends through Europe and temperate Asia, with a naturalized distribution in North America limited to New York and Ontario.
The plants, similar to other perennials, have medium water needs. Water the plants regularly making sure the soil doesn't dry out completely. Also, make sure you don't overwater and make the soil soggy. Mulch in colder climates.
It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and will often die in standing water.
Thalictrum can be cut back after flowering or delayed until the late winter/early spring as the foliage and seed heads remain attractive. Thalictrum can self seed but not so much as to be invasive and is trouble free. If you need to divide a clump, this is best done early spring or early autumn.
