A fast growing shrub or small tree to 10 m tall with long, slender branches that hold elliptic leaves and small, greenish, heavily scented flowers that open at night. Cestrum microcalyx is native to lowland and montane rainforests from Central America south to Bolivia.
Never allow the soil to completely dry. Water the Cestrum when the top one or two inches of soil has dried. When watering, soak Cestrum thoroughly and allow the water to drain around the base.
For healthier growth, feed the plants once or twice per month. Dilute the liquid fertilizer before use.
All parts of the plant, especially the berries, are very toxic if eaten. Eating green cestrum causes liver poisoning and can be fatal. Avoid touching the plant with bare skin.
