Water frequently (never overwater) so that the substrate does not dry out completely; reduce watering in winter.

It should be pruned back hard after flowering and given some general purpose fertiliser at this time. Cuttings taken in spring or early autumn should strike easily.

Young plants need extra phosphorus to encourage good root development. Look for a fertilizer that has phosphorus, P, in it(the second number on the bag.) Apply recommended amount for plant per label directions in the soil at time of planting or at least during the first growing season.

Justicia adhatoda is a shrub with 10-20 lance-shaped leaves 8-9 centimeters in length by four wide. They are oppositely arranged, smooth-edged, and borne on short petioles. When dry they are of a dull brownish-green colour.
