How to Care for the Plant

Water

Water the plants lightly but often to keep the surface of the soil lightly moist. Daily misting helps keep the surface rhizomes from drying out.

Pruning

Use the clippers to prune out any dead or diseased fronds. Remove them at the base. Look for dried or damaged frond tips and trim these off as well. Clean up trimmings immediately and dispose of them. If the fronds were diseased or deformed, bag and toss; avoid putting diseased fronds in your compost.

Fertilizer

Every two weeks, your rabbit’s foot fern care should also include watering the plant with a liquid houseplant fertilizer mixed at half strength.

Sunlight

If the lighting is correct but your leaves are still pale and your fern has not grown much then consider feeding your plant to revitalise it.

Soil

During spring and summer try and keep the soil moist at all times, without leaving the soil soaked.

Temperature

Rabbit's foot ferns like bright but indirect sunlight, such as that found near a window with an eastern exposure. During the day they like temperatures between 70 and 75 F. (21-24 C.), and slightly cooler temperatures at night.
