An evergreen shrub, 4-8 ft. by 5 ft., with narrow, dark-green, glossy leaves. The showy, single, 2-3 in. wide, anemone-like flowers are fragrant and glistening white.
It is said to be cold tolerant down to 10-23 degrees Fahrenheit and experiences temperatures in the range of 62- Page 2 Wilson 2 98 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer2. Carpenteria is also wildfire adapted, meaning seeds can survive the common California wildfires during the dry season.
You can also plant carpenteria californica in pots outside of this period as long as you avoid both freezing temperatures and heat waves.
