How to Care for the Plant
Water
Dragon Fruit cacti are somewhat drought-tolerant but not as much as ordinary cacti. Water your plant regularly during the growing season but avoid overflow (about once a week). In winter and early spring, you can reduce the frequency.
Pruning
You do not need to prune this plant, except for trimming the dead parts or getting some stem cuttings for propagation.
Fertilizer
Dragon Fruit cactus likes to be fed, and this is especially true for young plants. Fertilize these greenies monthly with a balanced solution. After they mature a ltitle (after about a year), reduce fertilization to several times per 12 months.
Sunlight
Even though we identify this plant as a cactus, that doesn't mean it should be planted in full sunlight. The best option is indirect light or partial shade.
Soil
These plants are not picky about the type of soil but make sure it is moist, well-draining, and rich in nutrients. This plant can tolerate different acidity levels.
Propagation
It's best to propagate your Dragon Fruit cactus using stem cuttings. Take a cutting 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) long, treat the end with a fungicide, plant it in the soil and place it in partial shade.
Temperature
Being a warmth-loving plant, the Dragon Fruit cactus cannot withstand frost, especially long-term! Keep the temperature at 65-80°F (18-26°C).
Container
You can use plastic, terra cotta, or clay pots, as the material does not matter. However, make sure the container has drainage holes.
