Pachyveria 'Glauca' is a beautiful succulent that forms spikey rosettes resembling a jewel. Leaves are thick and almost cylindrical. They are silvery-blue tipped with red and have a thick coating of farina that gives the plant a soft, powdery appearance. Flowers are pinkish on the outside and peach-colored inside
âLittle Jewel' has typical watering needs for a succulent. It's best to use the âsoak and dryâ method, and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Fertilizing these plants isnât a necessity. if you do plan on supplementing your little jewels nutrients, use slow-release liquid fertilizer rather than a fast-acting one. Also, feed it only during its active growing period in the winter.
Very easy: making leaf cuttings or separating the new shoots that are emerging from the stem by hand or with pruning shears previously disinfected with alcohol.
Pachyveria glauca does well outdoors. It's perfect for rock gardens, and adds âspillerâ to container arrangements. 'Little Jewel' is not cold hardy, so if you live in a zone that gets colder than 30° F (-1.1° C), it's best to plant this succulent in a container that can be brought indoors.
