Banana yucca is one of about 40 yucca species, all of which are native to the New World. Most yuccas have dry hard fruits, but the fruits of banana yucca are fleshy and succulent. They look roughly like short fat green bananas, thus the name.
Although Yucca baccata is considered a succulent plant, it grows better with regular watering. During watering, water should not be allowed to enter the crown, this can provoke decay. In winter, the plant is rarely watered or do without watering at all.
This species grows best in full sun, but it can grow in a slightly shaded area, but in this case it sometimes stretches.
