Terrestrial plant, stem growing upon the ground [epigeal], internodes short. Cataphylls lanceolate, 24 cm long. LEAVES: Petiole verrucose, 2-angled on the upper side, convex dorsally, 6-7 cm long, 3.5-4.5 mm thick. Blade erect, coriaceous, glossy on the upper side, lanceolate, apex shortly cuspidate, base obtuse, 23-25 cm long, 4.6-5.1 cm wide, somewhat unequal-sided; midrib very thick, verrucose on the upper side, 3-4 mm wide at the base, lateral veins very numerous and very dense, all sub-equal, parallel, 1-12.5 mm apart, ascending slightly arcuately.
