How to Care for the Plant
Water
As a plant species native to wetlands and riparian areas, Biophytum sensitivum loves to be consistently wet. Probably more so than most other terrarium plants, so try to pair it with the more moisture loving plants so you can provide a wet enough environment for it
Pruning
Remove yellow or dying leaves, and plant debris to encourage better-growing conditions. While pruning, always use clean scissors or shears to reduce the chance of bacterial and fungal diseases. Prune the flowers and developing buds to elongate the specimen's lifespan.
Fertilizer
Feed every four waters during the growing period and every six in the autumn and winter, using a 'Houseplant' labelled fertiliser. Never apply a 'Ready to Use’ product into the soil without a pre-water first, as it may burn the roots and lead to yellowed leaves.
Temperature
60-80°F (15-26°C)
Additional
Not toxic. The Biophytum Sensitivum is an eye-catching tree with a tropical look. The plant is originally from tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia, and it's also nicknamed 'little tree plant'. With its wooden stem and the shape of its leaves, the plant in fact looks a lot like a little tree.
