Peperomia 'Pepperspot'

A native of South America, this tropical plant is commonly known in many languages as “Money Plant” or “Green Coins” due to its easy-to-identify almost-perfect round leaves that resemble small coins. They’re glossy green on the upper side and pinkish on the down-facing side and grow from red stems, giving them a unique contrasting look.
It is easy to care for and beginner friendly. It can grow very long and obtain a web of intertwined stems, although it is considered a slow grower.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Watering should be done when the first layer of soil is dry. It rarely needs water in the winter, and it won’t survive overwatering or long periods of drought. It enjoys medium to high humidity, as it is a tropical plant, and this can be assured by misting the plant when needed.
Pruning
When you notice it’s overgrown and leggy, prune your plant. This should be done at the beginning of spring.
Fertilizer
Fertilization is not essential, as this plant gets most of its nutrients through the leaves. Nevertheless, it can be done once a month with slow-release fertilizers.
Sunlight
This plant prefers indirect sunlight to partial shade. It is not recommended to expose it to direct sunlight since it can cause burns.
Soil
Peperomia Pepperspot has delicate roots prone to root rot, so the soil should be loose, well-draining, and rich in organic matter.
Propagation
Propagation can be done both by leaf and stem, in soil and water. This is done by placing the pieces in a container with a narrow neck and filling it with water, leaving a space between the bottom of the stem or leaf and the water to maximize growth. Change the water every two weeks. It can also be propagated through ground layering.
Temperature
Moderate warm temperature is ideal for Peperomia Pepperspot as it doesn’t do well in cold settings or air drafts. The ideal temperature is between 59-75 ºF (15-24ºC).
Container
It grows better from a hanging basket, and the container should have drainage holes.
Fun fact
Its convex-shaped leaves are a natural mechanism that allows the water to flow off the leaves and prevent leaf rot, which this plant is prone to.
